REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- Coinciding with the 113th Milad of Muhammadiyah, the Central Leader (PP) of Muhammadiyah officially launched the Eco-Saintek Muhammadiyah Pesantren (boarding school). It represents a modern boarding school model that integrates religious education, science-technology, and ecological awareness.

The launch of Eco-Saintek Muhammadiyah Pesantren was inaugurated by the General Chairman of Muhammadiyah, Prof Haedar Nashir. In his speech, he reiterated the importance of presenting an Islamic educational institution capable of responding to the challenges of the times, especially amid much criticism directed at the management of boarding schools these days.

“Eco-Saintek Muhammadiyah boarding school should be well managed and become a role-model for the development of future boarding schools,” said Prof Haedar Nashir at the moment of the National Consolidation of Muhammadiyah and Summit of the 113th Birthday Reception of Muhammadiyah in the complex of the University of Muhammadiyah (UM) Bandung, Bandung, West Java, Tuesday (18/11/2025).

Eco-Saintek Muhammadiyah boarding school is designed as a high school level boarding school with an integrated education system. This model combines the deepening of the Islamic religion, the strengthening of science-technology, and the formation of an ecological character that is responsive to the issue of sustainability.

On the same occasion, the General Treasurer of Muhammadiyah Prof Hilman Latief affirmed that this boarding school is one of the innovations that the Muhammadiyah presents in the modern Islamic educational landscape. He hopes that, from Eco-Saintek Muhammadiyah Pesantren, will be born an excellent and advanced generation of Muslims.

“Santri not only knows science and technology, but also has an advanced environmental awareness and understanding of Islam,” said Prof Hilman, who is also the initiator of Eco-Saintek Muhammadiyah Boarding School and Chairman of the Board of Pesantren Experts.

Through this boarding school, Muhammadiyah affirms its commitment to giving birth to a smart, progressive, and sustainable generation — a generation of strong faith, noble, critical, mastering science and technology, globally competitive, and having leadership and concern for the sustainability of nature.

The Muhammadiyah Eco-Saintek Islamic Boarding School is located in Rancamaya, Bogor City, West Java. This modern educational institution sits on a beautiful and tranquil three-hectare plot of land.

It is an extension of the Al-Hikmah Kilat Islamic Boarding School, which was donated to Muhammadiyah. The school's facilities are continuously being prepared to support an integrated learning process based on science, the environment, and Islamic values.

According to an official flyer distributed at the launch event, the Muhammadiyah Eco-Saintek Islamic Boarding School is ready to operate and begin accepting new students for the 2026/2027 academic year.
