REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Police managed to find Eko Purnomo, one of the people who was reported missing after a protest in Jakarta some time ago. Polda Metro Jaya Public Relations Officer Brigjen Pol Ade Ary Syam Indradi revealed that Eko was found in Central Kalimantan, and he had switched professions to be a fisherman.
“Eko Purnomo has been found and now is working as a fisherman in Kuala Jelai, Sukamara Regency, Central Kalimantan,” Ade Ary said in Jakarta, Thursday (18/9/2025).
Ade Ary explained that he initially received information from social media about a number of people who were reported missing after the protests in Jakarta, including Eko Purnomo. Based on this information, the police sent a joint special team from the missing persons complaint post, namely Subdit IV Ditressiber Polda Metro Jaya, to conduct an investigation to find the victim.
Further, from the information of Eko's parents, it was learned that Eko had informed both parents via Whatsapp instant message that he was going to emigrate to Borneo. Eko also did not return home after the protest in Jakarta.
“The team conducted the investigation by analyzing the data and information of parents who knew that Eko Purnomo was in the area of Kuala Jelai Village, Kuala Jelai District, Sukamara Regency, Central Kalimantan,” Ade Ary said.
The police then continued to delve into Eko's whereabouts, including directly checking to the location Eko allegedly went to.
“The team checked the location and found out that Eko Purnomo was actually working as a fisherman in Kuala Jelai, Sukamara Regency, Central Kalimantan,” Ade Ary said.
The search team immediately coordinated with police from Kuala Jelai Police, Sukamara Police Station, Central Kalimantan Police to search and check the whereabouts of Eko Purnomo. Eko's whereabouts were recorded in a police report on Tuesday (16/9/2025).
In addition to Eko, Polda Metro Jaya have also found Bima Permana Putra, which was also reported missing during the protests in Jakarta.
Bima was found while selling barongsai toys in Klenteng Eng An Kiong, Jalam RE Martadinata No. 1 Kota Lama, Kedung Kandang, Kota Malang, East Java on Wednesday (17/9/2025).
In the information published by KonTRAS, there are four alleged missing protesters, namely Eko Purnomo, Bima Permana Putra, Reno Syachputra Dewo, and Muhammad Farhan Hamid. Two of them, namely Eko Purnomo, Bima Permana Putra have been successfully found, while the other two are still under search.
