REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Amid the climate crisis, social challenges, and increasingly complex governance demands, the application of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles is no longer a choice, but a necessity. Responding to this challenge, Republika held the ESG Now Awards 2025, an awards event that recognizes ESG practices from companies in Indonesia.
The awarding event was held at Hotel Borobudur Jakarta on Thursday (16/10/2025), which presented industry actors, policy makers, and public figures committed to driving real change.
Editor-in-Chief of Republika, Andi Muhyiddin, explained that the ESG Now Awards 2025 was driven by the urgency of changing business paradigms amid global challenges. Companies do not simply carry out social responsibility programs symbolically, but rather must ensure that the initiatives carried out are truly rooted in the real needs of society.
“The application of ESG is not a choice, but a necessity. Through the ESG Now Awards 2025, we are appreciating ESG practices that are not only strategically powerful, but also have a direct impact on people's lives. This event encourages cross-sector collaboration so that sustainability does not stop at the discourse, but is felt by the public,” said Dio, familiar greeting Andi Muhyiddin.
This year, the ESG Now Awards 2025 takes a new approach by highlighting the role of local communities or local warriors in the success of ESG programs. Assessment no longer focuses solely on the company's strategy, but also the extent to which the program engages the community in the planning, execution, and sustainability of the program. In carrying out the assessment, Republika cooperates with Surveyor Indonesia as an enrichment partner.
“ESG is not just a corporate agenda, but a collective movement. Companies and communities must be true partners in creating change. Because of this, this year's ESG Now Awards became a space to recognize those real collaborations,” Dio said.
The ESG Now Awards 2025 are divided into three main pillars with 15 categories. The Environmental Pillar highlights the company's efforts in creating innovative solutions to protect nature and manage resources sustainably, with a focus on green innovation, conservation, renewable energy, and community collaboration.
The Social Pillar appreciates companies that work directly with the community to increase capacity, open jobs, and fight for social equality. The Pillar of Governance focuses on the value of integrity, ethical leadership, as well as innovation in corporate management.
ESG Now Awards 2025 is a series of the ESG Now Movement, a movement initiated by Republika as a national campaign to strengthen public awareness and participation in ESG issues at the grassroots level. Through this movement, ESG is no longer seen as the exclusive agenda of large corporations, but rather as a collective effort that engages the community in every stage of change.
